Dressed As a Consort in Ancient Times - Chapter 34
Gu Yun was fully immersed in her reading when Jiang Libai’s voice pulled her back to reality. She silently raised her head, her eyes fixed on Jiang Libai, who had hurried back.
“…I just got to the part where the scheming prince tore off the princess’s gown in one motion, then lifted her undergarment in another…”
Hearing this, Jiang Libai coughed lightly twice, doing her best to ignore Gu Yun’s complex and heated gaze. “How about you stop reading and we talk about something serious?”
Gu Yun’s temple twitched. “It’s at a crucial point—could Your Highness allow me to finish this section first?”
Although she didn’t want to admit it, Gu Yun was indeed feeling rather frustrated at the moment. Last night, she had been mentally prepared, only to be ruthlessly turned down by the seventh princess. That disappointment had lingered throughout the night. Today, being confined to her room without the ability to go outside only made her more stifled.
Finally finding some relief in this storybook, she had just reached the critical part, only to be interrupted by the princess again…
Jiang Libai: “???”
Was Gu Yun so enamored with her collection of stories? Had she already become so engrossed after just a morning of reading?
Gu Yun noticed Jiang Libai’s wide eyes, sparkling like starlight, staring at her. Her throat moved slightly. “Does Your Highness wish to read with me?”
Jiang Libai squinted at her for a moment. Thinking it over, reading together might not be a bad idea. If she noticed any inappropriate sections that Gu Yun shouldn’t see, she could quickly cover them. Moreover, she needed to play along with Gu Yun to maintain their act. Staying in the room would make it easier for others to believe that Gu Yun was genuinely injured and she was personally caring for her.
Seeing the princess nod, Gu Yun lifted a corner of the quilt, signaling her to sit on the bed.
“It’s so cold; it’s warmer under the quilt,” Gu Yun remarked, noticing Jiang Libai’s hesitation. Tilting her head, she asked seriously, “It’s broad daylight. Could the princess be afraid I’ll do something to you?”
Jiang Libai thought for a moment and agreed. It was daytime, after all—what could possibly happen?
She removed her cloak, outer gown, and hairpin before slowly climbing into bed.
Gu Yun set the book aside, her heated gaze following Jiang Libai’s every move. When Jiang Libai settled beside her, Gu Yun gently supported her waist, withdrawing her hand only once she was seated.
The quilt was indeed warm, carrying a faint scent of sandalwood from Gu Yun. Just as Jiang Libai pulled the quilt over herself, Gu Yun wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. She frowned at Gu Yun. “Why are you holding me?”
Gu Yun placed the book between them, her tone calm. “It’s warmer if we hold each other.”
Seeing that her embrace was purely affectionate with no improper actions, Jiang Libai said nothing more, turning her attention to the book Gu Yun had lifted.
“…The prince’s veins bulged as he lifted the princess’s outer garment, revealing her delicate collarbone and snowy shoulders. The sight made his eyes burn red. Ignoring her struggles, he yanked off her obstructive undergarment in one motion…”
Jiang Libai’s face flushed instantly, growing so hot she dared not read further. She shifted her gaze away, waiting for Gu Yun to turn the page.
But after some time, Gu Yun still hadn’t turned the page.
Biting her lip, Jiang Libai glanced at her. “Haven’t you finished reading yet?”
At her words, Gu Yun’s fingers twitched as she finally flipped to the next page.
Jiang Libai refocused her gaze on the book.
“…Caught in a storm of passion, the princess was utterly drained, unable to resist. Her eyes reddened, half-opening as she bit her lip, gazing at the billowing bed curtains in the distance…”
The conspicuous words widened Jiang Libai’s eyes. Her breath hitched, and she hastily grabbed the book from Gu Yun. “Stop… Stop reading!”
“If not this,” Gu Yun’s voice grew husky, “then what should I read?”
Jiang Libai threw the book to the foot of the bed, her tone flustered. “You can’t read that anymore! Find something else!”
It was too embarrassing! Reading such a book with Gu Yun was unbearably mortifying!
Ignoring the discarded book, Gu Yun turned her attention to the princess, raising an eyebrow. “Then can I look at you?”
Her deep voice sent shivers through Jiang Libai. Only then did she notice how warm Gu Yun’s body felt under the quilt, like a furnace radiating heat. That heat seemed to seep into her, making her flush even more.
Gu Yun’s hand, resting lightly on her shoulder, slid upward to gently caress her face. Jiang Libai’s heart pounded wildly as an inexplicable shiver coursed through her.
Gu Yun noticed the nervous anticipation in her eyes and softly asked, “Princess, may I kiss you?”
Jiang Libai snapped back to her senses, seeing Gu Yun lean in closer. She raised a hand to block her lips.
Gu Yun’s scorching kiss landed on the back of Jiang Libai’s hand.
It tingled, as if countless ants were nibbling at her skin. Jiang Libai’s scalp prickled.
As the growing anticipation swelled within her, she realized she couldn’t allow herself to sink into this any further. Taking a deep breath, she tried to push Gu Yun away again.
But Gu Yun, already overwhelmed with longing, refused to let go.
She grasped the princess’s small hand, her cool lips trailing kisses from the back of her hand upward.
Jiang Libai whimpered softly as a wave of excitement spread through her. She found herself thinking dazedly, *Maybe just this once…*
Seeing her lack of resistance, Gu Yun gently held her, lowering her onto the warm bed.
Carefully avoiding the princess’s abdomen, Gu Yun tilted her chin upward, pressing a kiss to the corner of her lips.
Startled by the sudden kiss, Jiang Libai whimpered, her lips parting slightly in surprise.
“Mm…”
She was both shocked and embarrassed, her eyes shimmering with emotion, radiating a beauty that made Gu Yun almost lose herself.
Gu Yun’s lips left her mouth, brushing against her delicate chin.
A cascade of tingling sensations engulfed Jiang Libai. She bit her lip and took a deep breath.
Soft light bathed the room, falling on the bed where the quilt arched slightly. A few stray locks of hair swayed gently, and the falling bed curtain veiled the scene within, concealing a moment of tender intimacy.
—
It was nearing evening, and noticing that there was still no movement in the inner room, Chunxi walked to the door and gently knocked. “Princess, it’s time for dinner.”
There was still no response, so she knocked again. “Princess?”
“Um… I’m not… hungry for now. Tell the kitchen to keep the meal warm…” The Seven Princess’s voice came through intermittently, causing Chunxi some confusion. She replied hesitantly, “Yes, this servant will inform the kitchen.”
As dusk settled, the light in the inner chamber dimmed, casting a soft, shadowy glow.
Jiang Libai lay on the bed, her pale, tender hand peeking out from under the covers as she clutched the quilt. Her eyes were still glistening with tears at the corners, making her look both pitiful and captivatingly delicate.
“Where did you… learn all that?” Recalling what Gu Yun had done to her earlier, her face flushed once again like the morning sun.
Although Gu Yun hadn’t used her hands to do *that*, everything else… wasn’t far off.
It was a new and unfamiliar sensation—one that she couldn’t resist and found herself longing to experience again.
Gu Yun, meanwhile, adjusted her inner robes and tucked the Seven Princess’s exposed slender arm back under the quilt.
“From the novels you gave me,” Gu Yun replied, her tone carrying a hint of satisfaction despite not having done *that*. “Did the princess enjoy it?”
Still lying down, Jiang Libai felt Gu Yun’s cold hands slip into the quilt to warm up. Biting her lip, her misty eyes glistened. “You’re… not allowed… to do that again…”
By the end of her sentence, her voice had softened and wavered.
Her body was limp, her fingertips trembling slightly. Even so, she held onto Gu Yun’s hand, her voice soft. “Chunxi came by just now… we… shouldn’t indulge further…”
Her large eyes, usually bright, were now filled with tears induced by physical sensations, reflecting scattered light in the dim room. Her pleading tone finally prompted Gu Yun to withdraw her hand.
“Shall we continue tonight?” Although Gu Yun had satiated her cravings to some extent, her gland still throbbed slightly, and her body yearned for more.
If the princess was willing, she could be gentle with her.
But she wondered… if the princess found out that it wasn’t her hands she was using, would she still agree to such intimacy?
Jiang Libai wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and shook her head. “No.”
“My stomach feels a little uncomfortable…”
Perhaps it was the excitement from earlier, but now her lower abdomen ached faintly.
Hearing this, Gu Yun suppressed all her inner flames. She placed her hand gently on the princess’s abdomen and asked with concern, “What kind of discomfort? Did it disturb the baby? I’ll have Chunxi call Doctor Zhao.”
As she spoke, Gu Yun slowly released her pheromones, wrapping the Seven Princess in a soothing cocoon.
The calming scent from Gu Yun made Jiang Libai feel more at ease. Her abdominal discomfort gradually subsided. Holding onto Gu Yun’s hand, she murmured, “Your scent is very comforting; it makes me feel better. There’s no need to call Doctor Zhao.”
Doctor Zhao was skilled, but he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He often reported everything about her to her mother, leaving her with no privacy in front of the consort.
Better to keep him away this time. If he discovered that her excitement with Gu Yun had disturbed the baby, it would be beyond embarrassing. If her mother found out, she wouldn’t know where to hide her face!
Her soft body clung to Gu Yun’s like a delicate silk ribbon, prompting the latter to tighten her embrace. She pulled the quilt up to cover them both snugly and swallowed nervously. “Princess, shouldn’t you put on some clothes first?”
Holding the princess’s soft waist and feeling her warm closeness, Gu Yun’s desire surged anew.
“No need.” Jiang Libai had no energy to move and nestled closer to Gu Yun’s neck. “You’ve already kissed me. I don’t feel like dressing anymore.”
For some reason, Jiang Libai noticed that the closer she got to Gu Yun’s neck, the stronger that pleasant scent became.
It was incredibly soothing, leaving her feeling utterly content.
Now it was Gu Yun’s turn to struggle. “Princess… didn’t you used to dislike being intimate with me?” Couldn’t she dislike it now, too? Couldn’t she just put on her clothes and spare her some agony?
Jiang Libai paused at her words, tilting her face away as a mix of hesitation and clarity flashed through her mind. “It wasn’t that I disliked it… I just couldn’t get past a mental block.”
She reached out to loop her arms around Gu Yun’s neck, her voice soft. “But after experiencing the pleasure earlier, I realize how foolish I was not to have been close to you sooner.”
Gu Yun responded by embracing her gently, her fingers lightly stroking her slender back in comfort.
“Besides… as long as no one reveals that you’re a woman, in the eyes of others, you’re my consort—my husband.” The last two words were spoken with exceptional tenderness, as though laced with profound affection.
Gu Yun understood the Seven Princess’s intent, a hint of anticipation in her tone. “So… can we continue doing such things in the future?”
Hearing this, Jiang Libai leaned forward, biting down on Gu Yun’s slightly prominent collarbone through her inner robes and letting out a soft hum. “No, we can’t. Such things… I’m not ready for yet. For now, just like earlier… nothing more. We’ll talk about the rest later.”
Earlier, Gu Yun had kissed her all over, which was the furthest she could accept for now.
Gu Yun gently caressed her back, sighing inwardly. “Alright.”
“Princess, what are we now?” she asked, wanting to know what role she played in the Seven Princess’s heart.
Jiang Libai leaned into her warm shoulder nook, inhaling the calming cedarwood scent deeply. Lazily, she replied, “In the eyes of others, we’re husband and wife. But when it’s just us, you’re my… hmm…”
After pondering for a moment, she added, “You can be my wife.” After all, Gu Yun wasn’t a man, so she couldn’t call her a husband.
But since their relationship had grown so intimate, by the logic of the novels she had read, Gu Yun was her wife, just as she was Gu Yun’s wife.
The word “wife” made Gu Yun’s heart tremble.
She hadn’t expected the Seven Princess to recognize her identity so openly in her heart.
Suddenly, it felt as though spring had arrived, and flowers were blooming beautifully in her heart. Joy and contentment filled her entirely.
“Wife…” Gu Yun tightened her embrace and kissed her lightly on the forehead.
Jiang Libai hummed softly. “You’re so corny.” All she did was call her “wife,” and Gu Yun got so excited—more excited than she had been earlier. It was both amusing and exasperating.
It seemed that Gu Yun truly had indescribable feelings for her, given how easily satisfied she was. It was… surprisingly endearing.
For some reason, Jiang Libai felt a small, secret joy in her heart. She reached out, pinched the soft flesh at Gu Yun’s waist, and reminded her, “Don’t forget the time. Chunxi just called us for dinner.”
“Should I help you dress?” Gu Yun looked down at the princess, her gaze lingering on the snowy white skin of her exposed neck.
“No.” Since their earlier intimacy, Jiang Libai had become acutely aware of how energetic Gu Yun could be.
Let her help her dress? Ridiculous!
Standing bare before Gu Yun’s gaze now might just lead to them doing exactly what they shouldn’t!
Gu Yun swallowed hard. “Alright then.” She sounded genuinely disappointed.
Jiang Libai cast her a sidelong glance and pushed her out from under the quilt. “You get dressed first. Then I’ll get up.”
—
After much dawdling, the newly confirmed couple finally got up from the bed, reluctantly and affectionately.
Once Jiang Libai had dressed properly, she turned back to look at Gu Yun, who was also dressed neatly, and gently patted her face. “I’m going to have dinner now. Be good and stay here in the room. Once I’m done, I’ll bring you a portion.”
With that, she waved her sleeve, like a heartless woman who leaves after finishing her business, and swaggered out of the room, leaving Gu Yun behind to face the lonely night.
Gu Yun watched the departing figure of the Seventh Princess and sighed softly.
Two months into their marriage, the Seventh Princess had finally acknowledged her identity and stopped treating her with hostility. However, truly becoming a proper couple with her seemed like a long and arduous road ahead.
Though, in a sense, they were already a couple now, Gu Yun was not a pure woman in the traditional sense from ten thousand years ago.
If the Seventh Princess were ever to discover the truth, given her temperament, she might very well throw Gu Yun out of the palace overnight.
With these concerns weighing on her, Gu Yun’s brow furrowed slightly.
Meanwhile, the Seventh Princess was in high spirits and ate several bowls of rice in one go.
Chunxi, who was serving her on the side, noticed the princess reaching for another piece of pork trotter and quickly raised her hand to stop her. “Your Highness! You’ve already eaten three pieces of pork trotter tonight. You mustn’t eat any more!”
“And besides, you’ve already had three bowls of rice today. You can’t have another!”
Chunxi gave the Seventh Princess a meaningful glance, signaling that there were others nearby watching.
It was only then that Jiang Libai realized she needed to maintain appearances in front of everyone.
Clearing her throat, she adopted a sorrowful expression. “I’ve been too worried about the consort, and I lost my composure for a moment.”
For this novel one Kofi is two extra chapters. I’ll be updating 3-4 chapters a week for free.
