“No going back! No going back!”

Before Gu Yun could even finish speaking, the parrot screeched at the top of its lungs, “Play outside! Play outside!”

Gu Yun shot it a subtle warning glance and was about to take it back inside.

But just then, little Xingxing grinned widely, making Gu Yun pause. She looked at the parrot, then at Xingxing. “…Xingxing, do you like it?”

Jiang Libai was surprised—she could actually tell from Xingxing’s smile that she truly liked the parrot.

Even though Xingxing couldn’t speak yet, the way her eyes sparkled when looking at the parrot showed just how happy she was.

“It seems they have a special bond.” Jiang Libai held Xingxing closer to the parrot, letting her get an even better look.

For some reason, the parrot also became more excited as soon as Xingxing approached. Ignoring Gu Yun’s earlier warning, it started squawking again, “Little General! Little General!”

Gu Yun: “…”

She immediately turned around, her expression blank as she waved toward Muzhou, who was waiting outside. “It’s too noisy. Hurry up and take it away.”

The parrot probably realized that Xingxing was her daughter and sensed a trace of Yixing in her. That must have been why it got so excited.

After all, she had already told it that Yixing was unlikely to return. The parrot missed Yixing, so it was showing such enthusiasm toward Xingxing.

But she couldn’t let it continue rambling.

If the princess learned about Yixing, with her curiosity, she would surely start asking about Yixing’s details and… whereabouts.

So, it was better if the princess remained unaware.

After Muzhou took the parrot away, Jiang Libai pinched Xingxing’s confused little cheeks and asked curiously, “Xingxing likes that parrot—why did you have someone take it away?”

She thought back to when she had quarreled with Gu Yun before and spent all her time with that parrot. Now, she couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. “Could it be that you treasure that parrot so much that even Xingxing isn’t allowed to look at it?”

The jealousy in her tone was impossible to ignore, no matter how hard Gu Yun tried.

Gu Yun pursed her lips and chuckled softly. “What do you mean, treasure?” She walked over to Jiang Libai and also reached out to touch Xingxing’s soft little cheeks. “She is my little treasure.”

After kissing Xingxing on the forehead, she lifted her gaze, her eyes burning as she looked at Jiang Libai. Her warm lips brushed against the corner of Jiang Libai’s mouth as she whispered gently, “And… you are my treasure too.”

“My one and only, most precious treasure.”

As their lips met, Jiang Libai felt incredibly shy. She instinctively closed her eyes, allowing Gu Yun’s tongue to linger and entwine with hers.

Just as Gu Yun’s hand caressed the back of Jiang Libai’s neck, she trembled and struggled to push her away.

Glancing down at Xingxing, who was staring at them with wide, round eyes, she nudged Gu Yun’s leg lightly with her foot. “Shameless scoundrel, you’re squishing Xingxing.”

“And… we need to do less of this in front of Xingxing…”

Her voice trailed off into an almost inaudible murmur, soft like a kitten’s mewl, scratching at Gu Yun’s heart.

“…Then what should I do when I want to kiss you?” Gu Yun thought about how Xingxing had woken up crying multiple times last night, and she muttered with slight frustration, “But last night, Xingxing was right next to us…”

Jiang Libai coughed lightly, her face burning as she turned her head away in embarrassment. “Shameless. Just for the sake of being close to me, you’re actually complaining about Xingxing now.”

Gu Yun felt wronged. “No, I didn’t mean to dislike Xingxing.”

“It’s just that, Princess, you said we should be more reserved in front of Xingxing. That means I won’t be able to hold you all the time…”

At times like that, not only did Gu Yun feel unsatisfied, but even Jiang Libai herself had been startled several times by Xingxing’s crying.

After experiencing the taste of that joy and pleasure, she had also grown fond of such moments.

But she absolutely couldn’t let Gu Yun realize this—otherwise, with Gu Yun’s stamina, she feared she wouldn’t be able to leave the bedroom for days.

Thinking of this, she shot Gu Yun a glare. “Stop talking nonsense.”

Perhaps because Jiang Libai kept avoiding the topic, Gu Yun began to think that she no longer wanted to be close to her.

A sudden pang of hurt struck her heart, and she remembered how, at the beginning last night, the princess had even complained that she was too slow. Was it because she was too clumsy? That she hadn’t made the princess feel pleasure…?

Gu Yun thought about many things, but her face remained expressionless. However, her entire demeanor exuded a sense of dejection, like an eggplant battered by frost.

Jiang Libai, busy coaxing Xingxing, didn’t notice Gu Yun’s discomfort.

“The day after tomorrow, you’ll be going on duty. Later, I’ll have Muzhou give you a brief rundown of the family backgrounds of the Five City Military Commanders.” Since this was Gu Yun’s first time entering the court, Jiang Libai was especially cautious. “After all, you’ve been here for so long and have rarely interacted with others. Now is a good opportunity.”

“From now on, you won’t just be my prince consort. You’ll also have to be involved in political affairs and human relations.”

Jiang Libai’s careful instructions temporarily made Gu Yun forget her earlier disappointment. She sat beside her, listening attentively.

“When you’re outside, if someone bullies you or treats you unfairly, don’t bottle it up,” Jiang Libai emphasized this point, knowing that Gu Yun tended to keep things to herself. “Don’t worry about causing trouble or being a bother, because I will always have your back.”

The branches swayed, and the warm sunlight shone down.

Time seemed to slow at that moment.

“Always…” Gu Yun murmured the word, feeling as if the summer sun had poured straight into her heart, filling her with warmth and an uncontrollable sense of joy. “Yes, we will always be together.”

Hearing this, Jiang Libai’s rambling instructions came to an abrupt stop.

A warm breeze passed between them, and their loose strands of hair intertwined in the air.

She smiled, her gaze meeting Gu Yun’s, her eyes filled with brilliant starlight, glowing with an intoxicating tenderness.

She was happy, but her words remained haughty. “Gu Jie, you’re really so cheesy~”

…How was that cheesy?

Gu Yun felt a little dissatisfied. She reached out and gently pinched Jiang Libai’s smooth, soft cheek, pretending to be angry. “If you think it’s cheesy, then I won’t say it anymore.”

As Gu Yun’s warm fingertips brushed against her cheek, Jiang Libai felt an itch in her heart.

Hearing Gu Yun’s words, she let out a soft hum before suddenly turning her head and lightly biting Gu Yun’s still-outstretched finger.

“Hiss…” Gu Yun wasn’t crying out in pain.

Rather… at that moment, the Seventh Princess tentatively flicked her tongue out, the warm, wet sensation instantly enveloping her fingertip. A tingling, numbing sensation spread through her limbs, layer by layer.

It was indescribable.

Gu Yun glanced at Xingxing, who had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep. Keeping her finger between Jiang Libai’s teeth, she leaned down, her thin lips once again landing on the corner of Jiang Libai’s mouth.

Only this time, there was a hint of dominance.

The touch of lips and teeth left Jiang Libai breathless, as if she were suffocating. She closed her eyes in a daze, feeling the consequence of teasing Gu Yun.

After a long while, Jiang Libai finally pushed Gu Yun away.

Gu Yun, now parted, licked the lingering moisture from her lips. Her eyes were deep and intense as she slowly fastened Jiang Libai’s slightly loosened collar.

“It’s almost the hour of Xu. It’s time for dinner.”

Jiang Libai’s swollen cherry lips parted slightly, her misty gaze resting on Gu Yun. “Let the wet nurse carry Xingxing.”

She had been too lost in the kiss just now, and now she was feeling weak all over, afraid she wouldn’t be able to hold Xingxing steadily.

Calling Chunxi and the wet nurse, who were waiting outside the pavilion, inside, she handed Xingxing over to them. Then, Gu Yun wrapped an arm around Jiang Libai’s waist, supporting her as she stood up.

The summer was hot, so their clothes were thin.

Feeling the heat radiating from the arm around her waist, Jiang Libai grasped Gu Yun’s hand, her voice both coquettish and annoyed. “It’s time for dinner. Stop dawdling.”

Hmm… Night had yet to fall. It was still early.

Thinking of this, Gu Yun cleared her throat and replied seriously, “Then let’s go.”

Time passed little by little as Gu Yun anticipated what was to come.

When night finally fell and the candles were lit, Gu Yun accompanied Jiang Libai for a post-dinner walk before supporting her back to the bedroom.

Upon entering the inner chamber and not seeing Xingxing, Gu Yun was a little surprised. “Princess, where is Xingxing?”

Jiang Libai walked behind the screen and saw that the large wooden tub was already filled with hot water. She reached out to test the temperature.

“Xingxing is with the wet nurse.”

Hmm?!

Xingxing wasn’t in their room?

She was with the wet nurse?

Gu Yun knew that the Seventh Princess treated Xingxing like the apple of her eye, so why was she leaving her with the wet nurse tonight?

“It’s better to leave Xingxing with the wet nurse.” Finding the water temperature just right, Jiang Libai reached out to undo the buttons at her collar. “We’ve been with her all day, so the night should be for us.”

That last sentence was soft, carrying a subtle, teasing hook.

Gu Yun watched as the Seventh Princess slipped off her outer robe in front of her, revealing her delicate, fair collarbone, as smooth as the finest mutton-fat jade, gleaming alluringly under the flickering candlelight.

Unconsciously, Gu Yun swallowed.

“I helped you bathe before, so tonight, you can help me.” Jiang Libai walked up to Gu Yun, took her hand, and placed it on her shoulder and neck. Her voice was faint yet enchanting. “What do you say?”

At this moment, if Gu Yun still said no, she would be a saint who didn’t know how to cherish an opportunity.

Under the dim candlelight, she quickly stripped off her own clothes, then scooped Jiang Libai up in her arms and carried her into the wooden tub.

The perfectly warm water wrapped around them, enveloping them in heat.

As excess water spilled over, ripples began to spread across the surface.

Jiang Libai wrapped her arms around Gu Yun’s neck, wanting to kiss her, pressing her still slightly swollen lips to the corner of Gu Yun’s mouth.

Perhaps it was the rising steam that blurred her vision, but her eyes became misty, shimmering with tiny tears, like the most enchanting stars in the sky, drawing all of Gu Yun’s attention.

The water rippled, mist swirled.

Soft cries of complaint gradually sounded from behind the screen.

“…Your hands have calluses, you hurt me…” Jiang Libai withdrew her arms, biting her lower lip in protest.

Gu Yun stopped, released her hands, and apologized in a low voice. “Then I’ll use a towel to scrub you instead. My hands are too rough; scrubbing your back would only make it worse…”

Picking up a damp towel, Gu Yun moved behind Jiang Libai, lifted her long, loose hair, and began gently wiping her back.

Jiang Libai gripped the edge of the wooden tub tightly, her eyes brimming with tears that rolled down her cheeks, mixing with the water droplets splashing up, each one gleaming as they fell outside the tub.

Gu Yun was strong, and even with the towel, she still rubbed Jiang Libai’s fair skin until it turned a flushed shade of red.

The princess bathed daily and wasn’t actually dirty, but Gu Yun, wanting to make sure she was thoroughly clean and satisfied, put in extra effort.

As the water temperature began to cool, Gu Yun started to feel tired.

She stopped, placed the towel in Jiang Libai’s hands, and exhaled heavily. “You’re all clean now.”

“The water is getting cold… If we keep bathing, we might catch a chill…”

Jiang Libai was completely drained, even her fingertips were trembling slightly.

She turned around and hugged Gu Yun, her entire body hanging limply onto her as if she had no bones. “I’m so sleepy… Carry me out.”

Since the Seventh Princess had given an order, Gu Yun naturally complied.

She wrapped an arm around Jiang Libai’s waist and carried her out of the wooden tub.

Both of them were dripping wet, and the water stains quickly dampened the floor.

Afraid that Jiang Libai might catch a cold, Gu Yun hurriedly took a dry towel and carefully wiped her down.

Only after their bodies and hair were dried did Gu Yun scoop her up again and carry her over to the bed.

Lying down, they pulled a thin blanket over themselves.

With Xingxing not in the room, they felt much more relaxed than the previous night.

And having just soaked in the bath, everything was especially smooth.

Heat—

Swept over her, and Jiang Libai whimpered softly, burying her face in the crook of Gu Yun’s shoulder.

Gu Yun pressed her lips together, gently embracing her before lowering her head to place a kiss on her little head.

The moon rose in the east, and the night was quiet.

At first, Jiang Libai felt completely at ease, but as time passed, she was on the verge of tears. “How… much longer?”

Gu Yun’s movements deepened, letting out a muffled groan. “…Just a little longer.”

In the dark room, the rich scent of sandalwood filled the air, blending with the soft glow of the moonlight, shrouding everything in an intimate haze.

After a long time, the gauzy bed curtains swayed with the breeze before slowly falling back into place. From within, faint cries drifted out.

Jiang Libai whimpered, lying weakly beside Gu Yun. “So tired… Let’s rest earlier tomorrow night.”

Gu Yun, still full of energy, turned to touch her flushed little face and said, indulging her, “Alright, then we should let the wet nurse take care of Xingxing from now on, alright?”

Tonight, without Xingxing’s occasional crying, they had been completely at ease.

But Gu Yun worried that the Seventh Princess would be reluctant to part with her and would bring Xingxing back into their room again.

“No one has come looking for us, which means the wet nurse is taking good care of Xingxing,” Jiang Libai leaned against Gu Yun, drowsiness creeping in as she slowly closed her eyes. “Since the wet nurse takes such good care of her, then let’s just have her look after Xingxing at night from now on.”

By the end of her sentence, her voice was barely audible.

Gu Yun gazed at her peaceful, sleeping face and smiled contentedly.

Then, she slowly got up, dressed neatly, and walked to the door, instructing Qin’er, who was waiting outside, to bring in some hot water.

Carrying the basin back into the room, she wrung out a towel, lifted the blanket, and carefully wiped Jiang Libai down, bit by bit.

Once everything was tidied up, she finally lay back down beside her, gently pulling the blanket over them.

Closing her eyes, she wrapped her arms around Jiang Libai and, holding her close, drifted into sleep together.
